The shorter days and cold, longer nights mean that staying in with a good book seems like a great option. So as winter settles in do you feel yourself reaching for something cosy, warming, that you can curl up with? The idea that tastes and needs change depending on the weather is nothing new but can be an excellent way of deciding what you fancy reading when you have a list a mile-long!

This debut novel is a fairytale-esque work with action, romance and lots of ice.
3. Midnight in Everwood - M.A Kuzniar
Read for a grown-up retelling of the Nutcracker. Focusing on a strong protagonist, Marietta, who is striving to achieve her dreams, the book is set in a beautiful world full of frosty settings.
4. Frostbitten Fairy Tales - Melanie Karsak
A magical holiday collection re-imagines classic fairytales like Red Riding Hood, the Snow Queen, the Elves and the Shoemaker and an original from the author's own universe.
